I saw an interesting ranking of the wealthiest people in January 2025 and was struck by how wealth is really concentrated in just a few hands. At the top is Elon Musk with over $421 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos with $233 billion — and by the way, did you know that Bezos grew up in a Jewish family? Anyway, what surprised me is the variety of religious backgrounds among these billionaires.
Looking at the list, there are atheists like Musk and Larry Page, Christians like Buffett and Ballmer, people of Jewish faith like Ellison, Zuckerberg, and Brin. Bernard Arnault is Catholic, Jensen Huang with a private religious affiliation. It’s interesting to note how religion doesn’t seem to determine economic success — there are billionaires of every belief or non-belief.
On one side, there’s Jeff Bezos representing the e-commerce giant, on the other Mark Zuckerberg with Meta, Larry Ellison with Oracle. All billionaires, all with different stories. I wonder if this data is still current since it’s now 2026, but it’s still an interesting perspective on who really controls global wealth. What do you think, does this distribution surprise you?
