Claude AI helps users recover $397k worth of lost Bitcoin
Crypto World News reports that a user claims that Anthropic’s Claude AI helped them recover 5 bitcoins after ten years, which had been locked in an old wallet from 2015, worth approximately $397k. The AI assisted the user in regaining access to the wallet by analyzing backup files and identifying recovery methods using the btcrecover tool. Although some users have said that Claude “cracked” the Bitcoin, the recovery process mainly involved troubleshooting and file analysis, not breaking the Bitcoin’s encryption. According to Ledger’s guidance, analysts estimate that about 2.3 million to 3.7 million bitcoins may no longer be accessible, with many losses related to forgotten passwords, lost private keys, and hard drive failures. Ledger also pointed out that Bitcoin cannot be simply reset like traditional bank account passwords, and recovery is only possible once the original access information is rediscovered.
