Tonight I happened to look at the latest data on global wealth and I have to say that the ranking of the 10 richest people in the world is quite interesting. At the beginning of the year, the numbers were already impressive, but what really stands out is how technology and artificial intelligence have completely transformed the landscape of wealth.
Elon Musk at the top is no surprise, but the margin is almost surreal — 726 billion dollars. It has never happened in modern history for a single person to reach this level. The growth of SpaceX, Starlink, his positions in Tesla, and everything he's doing in AI and neural technology have created an almost unstoppable combination.
After him, we find the tech giants. Larry Page with 270 billion thanks to Alphabet's dominance in artificial intelligence, then Jeff Bezos at 255 billion supported by AWS and logistics. Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg follow immediately after. What strikes me is that almost all these people made their fortune in the same sector — technology.
Looking at the overall list of the 10 richest people in the world, I notice that Bernard Arnault is the only one from a different sector (luxury), while Steve Ballmer, Jensen Huang, and Warren Buffett still represent the tech or finance world. Their fortunes range from Musk's 726 billion to Buffett's 151 billion.
What fuels this explosion of wealth is quite evident: AI is creating value at unprecedented rates, the space sector is literally taking off, semiconductors remain strategic, and cloud computing dominates the digital economy. American tech companies have maintained their supremacy, and those who held onto their stocks over these decades have seen their value multiply exponentially.
This ranking of the 10 richest people in the world is a good indicator of where global capital is heading. If you want to understand where to invest or simply where the money is going, look at where these billionaires have concentrated their fortunes. Technology, AI, and innovation remain the main drivers of wealth creation in 2026.
