A university user lost 5 BTC after changing their password while high, and 11 years later, they recovered these bitcoins using Anthropic's Claude, worth approximately $400k at current prices. The post received over 10 million views within 12 hours. The user bought 5 BTC in 2014 but forgot the password after getting high; although they had the old seed phrase, they couldn't match it with the password-changed wallet file. Over the years, they tried brute-force cracking and commercial recovery services, but without success. Eventually, they packaged all files from their old college computer for Claude to process. Claude found the old wallet.dat file, fixed a bug in btcrecover, successfully extracted the private key, and imported it into the wallet. On-chain records show that all 5 BTC were transferred out on the same day.
