Lately, I’ve been noticing very interesting signals in the market. The altcoin season might be closer than many people think, and I want to share what I’ve been observing.
Let’s start with the basics. The altcoin season is that period when cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin begin to significantly outperform the gains of the crypto king. It usually happens when Bitcoin reaches its peaks and then stabilizes, pushing profit-taking investors to look for the next opportunities in altcoins.
How can you recognize it? There are two key indicators to watch. The first is the Altcoin Season Index (ASI)—when at least 75% of the top 50 altcoins outperform Bitcoin over the last 90 days, then yes, it’s a true altseason. The second is Bitcoin Dominance (BTC.D), which is the percentage of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization controlled by Bitcoin.
Here’s the interesting part: historically, the altcoin season starts when BTC.D drops below 60%, often even down to 45–50%. Right now, it’s at 57.19%, which means capital has already started rotating toward altcoins. It’s not full altseason yet, but we’re very close.
Looking at the main projects right now, Ethereum remains the primary focus—it’s near new ATH and has all the backing from institutions with ETFs. Solana continues to impress with development and activity in its DeFi ecosystem. XRP has received positive regulatory signals that are changing sentiment. And then there are AI and DeFi tokens, which are showing extraordinary performance.
What makes this stage interesting is that we’re not just talking about hype. Many of these altcoins have solid fundamentals, real use cases, and real ecosystems that are actively developing. Ethereum at 2.26K, Solana at 90.45, XRP at 1.43, ADA at 0.26—these prices reflect projects with real value, not just speculation.
But here’s what I want to emphasize: when the altcoin season arrives, it’s a period of extreme volatility. It can be incredibly profitable, but it can also be devastating if you’re not prepared. I’ve seen many beginners jump in at the peak of hype and then exit with significant losses.
The strategy I’m following is this: monitor BTC.D and ASI as guiding indicators. Focus on altcoins with strong fundamentals and active development. Diversify across big players like Ethereum and Solana, and then allocate a smaller portion to tokens with higher growth potential. Always use stop-losses and clear profit targets. And most importantly, don’t chase FOMO when the altcoin season is at its peak.
Based on what I’m seeing, we could be one or two quarters away from a full altseason. The signals are there, the fundamentals are in place, and capital is already starting to move. But the key is to be prepared before it happens, not during.
