Recently, I saw many people in the community discussing the word "rekt," and I think it's necessary to have a good chat about this classic term in the crypto market.

Honestly, the reason why "rekt" (a shorthand for "wrecked") is so popular in the crypto circle is not without reason. It’s short, powerful, and carries a kind of dark humor—even if you really get wrecked, saying it aloud allows you to vent with others. This term originally comes from gaming culture, later infiltrated the crypto community, and now has become a common language that every trader can understand.

When your leverage gets liquidated, your HODL coins suddenly plunge, or the project you bought into directly rug pulls, you are "get rekt." Sometimes, it’s not just about losing money but a financial disaster.

What I find interesting is that many people see being rekt as a kind of necessary "rite of passage." It sounds a bit harsh, but indeed, many traders learn the importance of risk management through repeated losses. This is the deeper meaning of "rekt" in crypto culture—it’s not just a word, but a shared experience and lesson.

So how are people easily rekted? I’ve summarized a few common patterns. The first is over-leverage—50x leverage can wipe out your account in minutes. The second is FOMO—buying hot coins at the peak, only to get caught when the hype dies down. The third is directly encountering rug pulls or scam projects; these are basically "rekt factories." Another is trading in low-liquidity tokens, or facing flash crashes and chain liquidations, where many people get rekt simultaneously.

Thinking of some classic cases. The Luna crash in May 2022, dropping from $80 straight to nearly zero—how many people got rekt during that I dare not imagine. Later, at the end of the year, the FTX explosion, where exchange users were directly trapped, FTT token prices collapsed, and countless wallets were emptied overnight. Every bear market, you see a wave of leverage liquidations, with thousands of traders experiencing the "rekt" feeling at the same time.

In the end, understanding the meaning of "rekt" is not just about learning a new word, but about recognizing the real risks in the crypto market. Those who have experienced it often become more cautious and rational.
