U.S. Senate "Clarity Act" negotiations stall at 1% disagreement, committee reviews or advances along party lines

Deep Tide TechFlow News, May 14th, according to crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett, negotiations among bipartisan senators in the U.S. Senate over the remaining controversial provisions of the Clarity Act concluded that evening, with no agreement reached. It is expected that the committee will review or push forward along party lines tomorrow.

Republican negotiator Cynthia Lummis stated that 99% of the bill’s content has been agreed upon, and she hopes the remaining 1% can be resolved after passing through the committee. On the Democratic side, there was a previous request to first reach a compromise on ethical and conflict of interest provisions involving the First Family, while also raising temporary concerns about the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, which aims to prevent non-custodial software developers from being prosecuted under fund transfer service laws.

Reports indicate that substantial progress has been made on ethical issues, but final disagreements over the BRCA amendments have hindered the agreement.
