I just noticed something interesting in the global wealth data at the beginning of this year. It turns out that the gap between the world's richest people has reached simply fantastic proportions.
Elon Musk continues to dominate with a net worth of about $726 billion. This is no longer just leadership — it's a historic gap. SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla, plus his influence in AI and neurotechnology have created an effect that no one in history has achieved before. Seriously, no one.
Interestingly, a whole group of tech giants has gathered around him. Larry Page with his $270 billion, Jeff Bezos with $255 billion — they clearly benefit from the boom in cloud computing and AI. AWS, Alphabet, their logistics networks — all of this works like a well-oiled machine.
Next on the list are: Sergey Brin ($251 billion), Larry Ellison ($248 billion), Mark Zuckerberg ($233 billion), Bernard Arnault ($205 billion), Steve Ballmer ($170 billion), Jensen Huang ($156 billion), and Warren Buffett ($151 billion). Essentially, this shows who the richest person in the world is and who follows — almost all are connected to technology or innovation.
What drives this? First, artificial intelligence has simply exploded in valuation. Second, space and semiconductors are no longer science fiction — they are real capital. Third, the US continues to dominate this sector. And, crucially, founders who haven't sold their shares now look at these figures and realize that their long-term bets have paid off many times over.
It turns out that who the richest person in the world is now isn't just about money — it's about who controls the technological trends of the coming decades. An interesting position to be at the center of all this.
