I just came across statistics on GDP per capita for 2025, and honestly - the scale of inequality is staggering. The poorest countries in the world show just crazy numbers. South Sudan tops the list with $251 per person per year. Yemen, Burundi, Central African Republic - all below $600. That’s not life, that’s survival. Nigeria, with a population of over 200 million, ranks 12th among the poorest countries in the world with $807. Can you imagine? An entire country with huge potential, but its indicators are like those of the poorest. And it gets more interesting - Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda - all African neighbors, but the numbers are very different. India ranks at the bottom of the top 50 with $2,878, although it’s still considered among the poorest countries in the world by this metric. When you look at such data, you realize why economic development and investment in education are not even options, but a necessity for survival.
