Recently, I noticed an interesting phenomenon on social media: people are using goat emojis next to various athletes, which made me curious about what "goat" actually means. I later realized that it’s not really about goats, but an abbreviation of the English phrase "Greatest Of All Time," meaning "the greatest in history."

The title of GOAT is basically only awarded to top athletes worldwide. In football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are recognized as GOATs because they have spent about 20 years breaking countless records. Just think about it—scoring 40+ goals every year for 17 consecutive years, while also winning numerous assists and awards. How difficult is that? Besides football, Roger Federer in tennis, Michael Jordan in basketball, and Tom Brady in American football are also considered GOATs in their respective fields.

Interestingly, Messi even printed a goat symbol on his jersey sleeve to commemorate this honor. Many now speculate whether Erling Haaland at Manchester City, if he continues this momentum, could break the records set by Messi and Ronaldo and become the next GOAT. What do you think? Who else could join this list?
