I found this ranking of the 50 poorest countries in the world in 2025 interesting. The list is heavily dominated by African nations, with South Sudan leading at the top with a GDP per capita of only R$251. It's shocking. Then comes Yemen (R$417), Burundi (R$490), and the Central African Republic (R$532). Basically, the poorest countries are concentrated in Sub-Saharan Africa, which makes perfect sense considering the economic and political challenges these regions face.

What caught my attention is that some Asian countries also appear quite low on the list. Myanmar, Nepal, Timor-Leste, and Bangladesh are among the 50 poorest, with GDP per capita ranging from R$1,177 to R$2,689. Haiti also appears, showing that extreme poverty is not only an African problem.

To wrap up, India is at the bottom of the list with R$2,878, which is interesting considering it is the fifth-largest economy in the world in absolute terms. It clearly shows the difference between total GDP and GDP per capita. These 50 poorest countries in the world really need a lot of investment and economic development to get out of this situation.
