Someone asked me how ordinary people should strike a balance between L2 and the mainnet. Honestly, just don’t consider yourself a “high-frequency on-chain trader”… I usually focus on two things on the mainnet: increasing large transaction limits and changing key permissions (like switching wallets or revoking approvals). Anything that can be handled on L2, don’t force the mainnet to handle during peak gas times. If I need to cross-chain, I don’t chase the “cheapest” option—bridges that are a dollar or two cheaper but take half an hour and bombard your wallet with pop-ups are a worse experience and more costly in the long run.
Recently, L2s are again competing over TPS, fees, and subsidies, arguing like delivery platforms fighting for couriers. I only look at two points: whether my frequently used apps run smoothly, and whether deposits, withdrawals, and reversals are clear. Don’t save gas at the end only to get lost on the bridge… That’s it for now. Save where you can, but don’t sacrifice your time and peace of mind.
