if emergency adjustment authority is invoked, Samsung Electronics labor union will be prohibited from engaging in strike action for 30 days, and both labor and management will be required to accept the mediation proposal put forward by the National Labor Relations Commission, even without mutual consent


this means the union would be forced to accept the mediation proposal it rejected at dawn: maintaining the cap on performance bonuses and providing a one-time payment in the form of special compensation for this year only
it seems the National Labor Relations Commission also thinks that removing the cap and paying performance bonuses as a fixed percentage of operating profit makes no sense
if Samsung Electronics collapses, hundreds of other companies could follow by going on strike demanding a share of operating profits, and there is no way the government would just stand by and let that happen
