After the bloodshed at the Yuanyang Tower, Wu Song disguised himself as a pilgrim and hurried along through the night, reaching Wugong Ridge.

That night, the pilgrim Wu left the big tree at the Crossroads Slope and took the road onward. At this time it was October; the days were short, and before long it was already getting dark. After he had traveled for less than fifty li, he looked ahead and soon saw a high ridge. Taking advantage of the moonlit night, the pilgrim Wu climbed the ridge step by step, believing that it was only just the early hours.
Standing at the top of the ridge and looking out, he saw the moon rising from the east, casting a brilliant glow over the grass and trees on the ridge.
(Exquisite classical prose)
