Have you ever wondered what a bookmaker is? Today I want to share a different perspective on this concept, because I’ve noticed that many people misunderstand it.
One fact that most retail investors don’t realize is that the so-called bookmaker is actually just people who play with larger capital. I used to think they were superhumans who could control everything—regardless of technical indicators, regardless of news, and even regardless of major market trends. But after observing the market for a while, I realized it’s just a myth.
So what is a bookmaker in reality if not people who are also trying to make money in the market? The only difference is that they have more capital and different strategies. But interestingly, many people with huge capital have also suffered severe losses and even disappeared from the market without anyone knowing.
I’ve found that those who like to show off their status as bookmakers, making loud claims in the market, usually only last a few years before vanishing without a trace. Meanwhile, those who are truly successful tend to stay quiet and work wisely.
But when you look at the essence, the market doesn’t actually have anything called a bookmaker—there are only winners and losers, along with countless other types of players. Some are talented predators; some are just prey. Everything depends on the weapons you have, the strategies you apply, and of course, luck.
The real key is whether you truly own a sword capable of slaying dragons, or whether you only have a small bow for hunting rabbits. That’s the answer to the question: what is a bookmaker?
