Hainan: Promoting the high-quality development of travel and residence-based elderly care

Hainan issues a notice on “Several Measures to Promote High-Quality Development of Travel and Retirement.” The “Notice” proposes strengthening tourism development. Relying on the province’s tourism products such as “coastal resort tourism, tropical rainforest tourism, island ring road tourism, ecological health tourism, space research and study tourism, ethnic folk customs tourism, red culture tourism,” a batch of theme travel and retirement packages and boutique routes suitable for the elderly will be launched, exploring the development of customized special tourism routes such as “nostalgic tours” and “family tours.” Deepen the integration of medical care and elderly care. Rely on the Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone to develop the medical travel and retirement industry. Encourage elderly care service institutions to provide long-term care services and include them in the designated management of long-term care insurance care service institutions. Encourage long-term residents from outside the province (excluding retired employees) to participate in the basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents and long-term care insurance in our province, providing high-quality and efficient cross-regional medical settlement services for elderly travelers insured in our province.
