I just came across some quite fascinating material about Arkham Intelligence publishing a full analysis of the suspected Satoshi Nakamoto wallet. And the numbers there are simply mind-blowing.

According to their research, the Bitcoin creator controls approximately 1,096,354 BTC — which is 5.22% of all bitcoins in the world. Converted at current prices, that’s about $108.8 billion. For comparison, that would place Satoshi at 14th on Forbes’ list of the richest people, right ahead of Bill Gates and Michael Dell. Crazy numbers, honestly.

What’s interesting is that the entire analysis is based on the so-called Patoshi pattern — a 2013 study where developer Sergio Demian Lerner noticed a unique pattern in the blocks mined by Satoshi in the early stages. Arkham added 22,000 addresses to their database, which they believe belong to the creator. Now anyone can view this data on the platform and verify it themselves.

But what’s truly intriguing is that the last activity from these addresses was recorded in July 2010. That was 15 years ago, when Bitcoin was worth almost nothing. Since then, complete silence. No movements, no attempts to spend these coins.

According to Arkham, Satoshi made only 13 transactions between January 2009 and July 2010. The most famous one was sending 10 BTC to Hal Finney, a crypto pioneer. Another 2 bitcoins went to Mike Hearn, another early developer. The remaining transfers look like test operations or transfers to untraceable addresses.

Of course, there are theories that Satoshi might have other wallets that no one has tracked. Maybe he’s still moving his coins somewhere. But no one has proven that yet. It’s only possible to speculate who is really behind this legendary pseudonym and why he simply disappeared from the network, leaving behind the most successful currency in crypto history.

Currently, BTC is trading around $80.83K, making Satoshi’s entire stash even more impressive. I wonder, will these coins ever move? Or will they remain an eternal monument to Bitcoin’s first era?
