Reuters quoted witnesses at Incheon Airport in South Korea as saying that He Lifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, arrived in South Korea and will hold economic and trade consultations with the U.S. side. Li Chenggang, a representative of the Ministry of Commerce for international trade negotiations and deputy minister, accompanied him.

South Korea’s finance minister, Gu Yoon-jeol, said that U.S. Treasury Secretary will arrive in South Korea on Wednesday morning local time to meet with He Lifeng. South Korean media, citing airport officials, said the two will hold talks in the reception room at Incheon Airport. It is expected that their meeting will be to prepare for the meeting between the Chinese and U.S. leaders on Thursday and Friday in Beijing.

In Beijing, the Ministry of Commerce’s spokesperson for news previously said that the two sides will conduct consultations on economic and trade issues of mutual concern, guided by the important consensus reached at the leaders’ summit between the two countries in Busan and through their past important phone calls.

In addition, the Blue House said that South Korean President Li Jae-myung will meet with He Lifeng.
