Interesting statistics have come into focus — at the beginning of this year, the ranking of the world's wealthiest people underwent significant changes. The technology sector completely dominates the list, and the gap between the first place and the others is simply colossal.
Elon Musk maintains his position as the richest person in the world with a net worth of about $726 billion — a record figure in modern history. His wealth is growing thanks to the rise of SpaceX, the expansion of Starlink, his positions in Tesla, and influence in the artificial intelligence sphere. The gap between him and the others is just enormous.
Following are other tech giants. Larry Page (Google) is in second place with approximately $270 billion, Jeff Bezos (Amazon) rounds out the top three with $255 billion. The list continues as follows: Sergey Brin — $251 billion, Larry Ellison — $248 billion, Mark Zuckerberg — $233 billion, Bernard Arnault — $205 billion, Steve Ballmer — $170 billion, Jensen Huang — $156 billion, and Warren Buffett closes the top 10 with $151 billion.
What exactly happened? First, artificial intelligence and cloud computing grew exponentially. Second, space technologies and the semiconductor industry received incredible valuation. Third, American tech companies simply dominate globally. And most importantly — founders who held onto their shares are now seeing their long-term bets pay off fully.
As you can see, the question of who is the richest person in the world has a clear answer — tech entrepreneurs are rewriting the rules of wealth accumulation.
