Sei has disabled the IBC asset transfer feature, and the network is gradually shifting toward a pure EVM architecture.
BlockBeats News, May 13 — Sei Labs announced that, based on community proposals, Sei Network has officially shut down the IBC asset transfer feature. The official reminder is that wallets currently holding IBC assets on the Sei network need to transfer these assets via bridge as soon as possible, because Sei will further disable the IBC asset transfer function in the future.
Sei Labs stated that the Sei v6.4 version upgraded in April has added a mechanism to disable IBC asset transfers. Some wallets holding related assets have previously received airdrop reminders, prompting users to complete bridging or exchange operations before Sei fully shifts to an EVM-only architecture.
This means Sei is gradually weakening its original Cosmos IBC ecosystem compatibility and further aligning with EVM chains.
