Crypto News: On May 12, The Graph officially announced that its Graph Gateway now fully supports x402 Payments, allowing developers and AI Agents to access on-chain data via pay-per-request using USDC, without the need for API keys, accounts, or backend panels. The Graph stated that its network is responsible for indexing data from multiple blockchains, including token information, DEX trading pairs, governance updates, NFT metadata, and protocol activities. Previously, accessing related Subgraph data required registering with Subgraph Studio and applying for an API key, but x402 changes this access model. According to the announcement, after an agent or program accesses the interface, it will receive an HTTP 402 response containing pricing information, then can complete a signed payment using USDC on the Base network, and make a subsequent request to retrieve data, with “payment itself serving as authentication.” This update includes:
· New /api/x402/ interface;
· New payment process SDK;
· Support for any tools compatible with x402;
· Support for USDC payments on the Base mainnet and Base Sepolia testnet;
· The existing API key mode remains unchanged. The Graph stated that Subgraph data is now accessible directly by any program or agent supporting HTTP and holding USDC.
