I just reviewed an analysis of the poorest countries in the world in 2025, and the truth is that the numbers are quite concerning. South Sudan leads with just $251 per capita, followed by Yemen and Burundi. What stands out most is that almost all of the poorest countries are concentrated in Sub-Saharan Africa and some regions of Asia. Madagascar, Mozambique, DRC... the list is long. Even Nigeria, being an African economic powerhouse, remains low with $807. It's interesting to see how the gap between these poor countries and the rest of the world remains enormous. India is also among the lowest with $2,878. There is definitely a lot of work to be done in global economic development.
