Do you know what happens when the price breaks a resistance level and everyone yells 'bullish'? Often, it's exactly when you're about to get caught. What professional traders call a bull trap is one of the most sneaky games in the market — the price rises, everything seems perfect, then it drops all at once, and those who bought are left holding losses.

I've seen it happen hundreds of times. The dynamic is always the same: the price drops for a while, then suddenly accelerates upward and breaks through that resistance that seemed unbeatable. The crowd goes long, especially beginners, driven by FOMO — the fear of missing out on the move. And just when everyone is in? The price reverses and hits stop-losses like a punch to the stomach.

Why does it happen? Because the market is controlled by those with money and patience. Big players know exactly where retail traders place their stops, and they exploit this information. They create a false breakout, gather liquidity, then reverse. It's mathematical.

How to recognize a real breakout from a bullish trap? Here's what I always look for. First: a simple breakout means nothing. A true breakout is when the price stabilizes above the level for several candles with significant volume. If the price rises but volume is low? That’s a nice trap.

Second aspect — indicators. The RSI in overbought territory is a warning sign. The Stochastic begins to signal reversals. The MACD shows that momentum is losing strength. These are not foolproof signals, but together they tell a story.

Third, and often underestimated: look at higher timeframes. What looks like a breakout on 15 minutes could just be a test of resistance in a downtrend on 4 hours. Context matters everything.

The advice I always give: always set a stop-loss when trading breakouts — it’s non-negotiable. Avoid decisions made by adrenaline. The market punishes haste mercilessly. And above all, train patience. Discipline is what separates winners from losers.

Remember, a real trading opportunity always waits. There’s no rush to jump into a situation that smells like a bull trap. Patience and careful observation are your best allies when navigating these market movements.
