Interesting thing: it turns out that the most expensive currency in the world and the most convenient passport are not the same thing. I just looked at the latest ranking and was amazed by the discrepancies.

Look here. The Kuwaiti Dinar is the king in terms of value. Then come the Bahraini Dinar and the Omani Rial. All these Gulf Cooperation Council countries just dominate the list of the most expensive currencies. But here’s the paradox — the passports of these countries, although strong, are not in the top 3 for freedom of movement.

And the passports of Singapore, South Korea, and Japan are a completely different level. Citizens of these countries can travel almost anywhere without a visa. Europeans are also not lagging behind: Germans, French, Spaniards, Italians — all of them are among the leaders in mobility. Canadians, Australians, Swiss — also in the top tier.

It results in a funny hierarchy: wealth in one doesn’t guarantee freedom in another. The most expensive currency isn’t as important for travelers as a strong passport. Interesting, isn’t it?
