Elliptic completes $120 million financing, valuation reaches $610 million
Blockchain analytics company Elliptic announces the completion of a $120 million new funding round led by One Peak, with the company's valuation reaching $610 million. The round's investors include Nasdaq's venture capital arm, Deutsche Bank, and traditional financial institutions such as the UK Commercial Bank.
Elliptic is a company focused on blockchain transaction monitoring and risk analysis, with tools that can trace fund flows across multiple blockchains to help banks, exchanges, and regulators identify suspicious activities related to sanctions, fraud, money laundering, and more. The company states that approximately two-thirds of global cryptocurrency trading volume flows through platforms using its services.
This funding comes at a time when the crypto market is experiencing frequent security incidents, with hacker attacks causing nearly $3 billion in losses. Elliptic plans to use the new funds to enhance AI-driven monitoring and risk analysis capabilities, especially by developing intelligent agent products to automate parts of compliance analysis, helping institutions meet the growing compliance demands from stablecoins, tokenized assets, and institutional blockchain projects. Elliptic CEO Simone Maini said this round of funding will accelerate their AI deployment, enabling compliance teams to handle complex investigations more efficiently.
As the trading volume of stablecoins expands and the trend of tokenizing real-world assets (RWA) develops, the importance of blockchain analysis and compliance infrastructure is increasingly highlighted. Elliptic's support from traditional financial institutions reflects institutional investors' focus on crypto security and regulatory technology. This funding will further strengthen Elliptic's application of AI technology, but the industry still faces multiple challenges, including hacker attacks, regulatory requirements, and technological evolution.
