Is the crypto world "scamming again" tonight? BTC surges then pulls back, has the logic behind it changed?
Last night at 8 PM, BTC led a sharp rally with mainstream coins—BTC briefly hit $82,479, SOL surged to $97 at one point, ETH also briefly broke above $2,382.
And the result?
All pulled back.
Currently:
• BTC $81,224 (back to the core range of $80,800–$81,200)
• ETH $2,336 (lost the $2,370 level)
• SOL $95.37 (pulled back from $97)
• BNB $656 (pulled back from the high of $666)
Wolf Analysis | 2026.05.12
Market Description
This evening’s surge saw all 1-hour candlesticks close with long upper shadows, a typical impulse digestion pattern. BTC formed a peak at $82,479 today and then gradually pulled back, with $81,200 becoming the battle zone between bulls and bears. ETH and SOL retraced more significantly, with SOL falling from $97 to $95, and ETH’s $2,300 support facing another test. Volume expanded during the surge and contracted during the pullback—no major players are dumping, but buyers are also not chasing high prices.
Today’s Core Drivers
1. Last night’s global macro positive expectations increased, risk-on sentiment briefly boosted crypto assets.
2. There is obvious selling pressure above $82k for BTC, and it failed to stabilize effectively last night, leading to market skepticism.
3. Under the overbought sentiment at $97, SOL led the decline, triggering a broader altcoin adjustment.
4. ETF capital inflow slowed, and bullish momentum is diminishing marginally.
My view is that last night’s surge and pullback are not bad—they are a stress test within the $80k–$82k range. The results show that $82k is not an effective breakout point for the current bull market; bulls need a larger external catalyst to push higher. The real question now is not whether it will fall, but whether it can hold steady.
$80,280 is today’s key support for BTC, with $79,800 as the confirmation level if broken. ETH must hold $2,290, and SOL must hold $94.
Holding these levels means the next wave is possible; losing them turns recent gains into a trap for late buyers.
Hold $80,280, no deep drop for now.
