On May 11, local time on the 10th, French President Macron, who is visiting Kenya, stated that France has “never considered” any “deployment” in the Strait of Hormuz. In response to France and the UK planning to send additional warships to the Red Sea and surrounding areas of the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Karimi Qabadi posted on social media on the 10th that any foreign military deployment under the guise of “protecting shipping” would “only exacerbate the crisis and militarize this critical waterway.” He emphasized that only Iran can ensure the security of the strait and that no other country is allowed to interfere.
