Recently, I noticed an interesting trend – the question of who the richest person in the world is this year has received a completely new answer. The fortunes of tech magnates are simply skyrocketing, and we're now talking about amounts that previously seemed like science fiction.

Elon Musk has finally pulled ahead of his competitors. His net worth is estimated at around $726 billion – an unprecedented level of personal wealth. SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla, plus his growing influence in artificial intelligence and neurotechnology. The guy is literally creating the future and becoming the richest in history at the same time.

Next comes a whole lineup of tech giants. Larry Page, from Google/Alphabet, holds about $270 billion. Jeff Bezos with Amazon is in third place – $255 billion. Sergey Brin, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg – all of them are in the range of $200+ billion. Even Bernard Arnault, Steve Ballmer, Jensen Huang from Nvidia, and Warren Buffett are part of this elite club of hundreds of billions.

What’s behind this? First, an explosive growth in artificial intelligence. Companies that jumped on this wave early are just printing money. Cloud computing, semiconductors, space technologies – all of this gives fantastic valuations. Second, American tech companies dominate globally, and their stocks are skyrocketing. Third, many of these people have held their shares from the very beginning – long-term bets that have paid off fully.

Interestingly, the richest person in the world is now not just a financier or heir, but someone who actively creates and innovates. This shows how technology is reshaping the distribution of wealth. If you created the right company in the right industry at the right time – this is the result.
