I've noticed that many beginners in trading don't quite understand what win rate is and why everyone focuses on it. Let's clarify, because it's really an important indicator, although not the full picture of success.

Win rate is essentially the percentage of your profitable trades out of the total number. The formula is simple: take the number of successful trades, divide by all trades, and multiply by 100. For example, if you made 50 orders in a month, of which 30 closed in profit and 20 in loss, your win rate would be 60 percent. That's 30 divided by 50 and multiplied by 100.

But here's the catch. A high win rate is not a guarantee of profit. I've seen traders with 80-90 percent wins who still blew their accounts. Why? Because they made many small wins, but occasionally took one big loss that offset all their earnings. On the other hand, a win rate of 40-50 percent can be very profitable if your wins are several times larger than your losses.

This is where risk-reward ratio comes into play. It shows how much you earn on average per trade relative to what you risk. Imagine: a 50 percent win rate, but you risk one dollar to make two. The strategy will work. But if your win rate is 80 percent, and your risk-reward ratio is 2 to 1, meaning you risk two dollars to make one, then over time you'll end up in the negative.

How to improve your win rate? First, discipline. Keep a journal of mistakes, analyze why a trade didn't work. Second, trade according to a clear strategy, without emotions and impulsive decisions. Third, enter a position only when there are obvious signals, don't guess. And fourth, assess risks before each trade.

Win rate is a useful metric, but remember, it's only part of the picture. For consistent income, you need a combination of a good win percentage, proper capital management, and the right risk-reward ratio. Without this, even a 70 percent win rate can lead to losses.

By the way, if you want to track your win rate, you can download your trade history from your trading journal, export order data for the desired period, and calculate manually. Or use third-party tools for statistical analysis. Currently, BTC is around $80,920, so the market is active. The main thing to remember is that win rate is a self-analysis tool, not a guarantee of success.
