Here's some interesting statistics I recently saw. At the beginning of this year, the ranking of the world's richest person looked very different from before. Tech entrepreneurs completely dominate the billionaire list, and it's impressive.
Musk leads with an unprecedented amount — approximately $726 billion. These are just crazy numbers. His wealth is growing thanks to SpaceX, Starlink, Tesla, and all his AI ventures. No one in history has accumulated such personal wealth before.
Following him are tech giants. Page, from his Google legacy, has about $270 billion, Bezos with Amazon holds $255 billion. Then Brin, Ellison, Zuckerberg — all in the range of $200-250 billion. Even Ballmer with his Microsoft shares, Huang with Nvidia, and Buffett with his investments are on the list.
What surprises me is that the richest person in the world now has a fortune that is simply incomparable to previous records. This is the result of the boom in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and space technologies. American companies have completely rewritten the rules of the game.
The semi-conductor industry, space, AI — these are the sectors generating real wealth right now. And all these top people have been betting on these technologies for years and holding their shares. Now they are reaping the benefits in figures that once seemed like science fiction.
It will be interesting to see how this looks in a year. The trend is clearly toward technological innovation, and the world's richest person seems likely to stay in this sector for a long time.
