Just did some back-of-the-envelope math on Bitcoin and it's wild. If you'd thrown $1000 at BTC five years ago and just held it, you'd be sitting on over $10,600 right now. That's nearly 10x returns in a period that saw Bitcoin go through a full halving cycle.

The thing is, Bitcoin halving events have historically been big catalysts for price movements. We just saw the 2024 halving reduce block rewards again, and it's part of why the long-term trajectory has been so strong. Back in 2021, nobody really knew how the next five years would play out, but the hodlers who stuck with it through all the volatility ended up doing pretty well.

Makes you think about what the next five years could look like, especially with Bitcoin's supply mechanics staying the same. Not financial advice obviously, but the historical data is pretty interesting to look at.
