So I've been seeing this everywhere lately - people claiming Elon Musk is launching some kind of Tesla phone to take on the latest iPhones. The posts look convincing too, with renders and supposed launch dates. But here's the thing: it's all pretty much made up.
I did some digging and found that most of this stuff traces back to a concept video that ADR Studio created way back in 2021. It was a creative design exercise, nothing more. But then YouTube channels and TikTok accounts started using clickbait titles, and suddenly people thought this was leaked Tesla information. The image of Elon Musk holding a Tesla phone? Fan-made. The whole thing just spiraled from there.
What's wild is how fast misinformation spreads. Small tech blogs started publishing articles like 'Tesla About to Launch Phone' without verifying anything. They'd cite random social media accounts as sources. Once the iPhone 17 dropped, people got even more interested in the Elon Musk phone rumor, making it trend even harder. It became this self-reinforcing cycle of fake news.
I checked with actual tech verification sites and reputable outlets. Tech Advisor and VERA Files both confirmed the same thing: Tesla has never announced any smartphone plans. Elon Musk has never made any official statement about creating a phone to compete with Apple. The Tesla phone only exists in design mockups and people's imaginations right now.
This whole situation is a pretty good reminder of how social media works. One concept video, some eye-catching renders, a catchy headline - and boom, it becomes 'breaking news' across dozens of unverified websites. Before you know it, millions of people think Elon Musk phone is actually happening.
If you want to avoid getting caught by this kind of thing, the move is simple: check the source. Look for official company statements or direct quotes from the person involved. Don't just trust what you see in clips or images floating around. For something like an Elon Musk phone launch, you'd expect an official announcement from Tesla's website or a verified statement from leadership. Until that happens, it's just speculation and fan content.
