According to South Korean Yonhap News Agency, data provided by the Financial Supervisory Service shows that as of May 4th, 15 virtual asset service providers in South Korea have ceased operations, affecting approximately 1.95 million users, with stranded assets totaling about $15.1 million. The Korea Digital Asset Protection Foundation has so far only helped 131 users recover assets, amounting to approximately $5,100, which accounts for about 0.3% of the total assets. Lawmakers pointed out that current laws do not mandate service providers to transfer user assets upon shutdown, and related user protection mechanisms still need improvement.
