2026.5.11 U.S. Stock Market Briefing


The situation between the U.S. and Iran remains deadlocked, oil prices surged 3% in a single day, the semiconductor index rose above 12,000 points, and the S&P and NASDAQ hit new all-time highs.
1. VIXY closed up 1.33%, at 27.41.
2. The S&P 500 index closed up 13.91 points, a 0.19% increase, at 7,412.84 points, continuing to set new closing record highs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 95.31 points, a 0.19% increase, at 49,704.47 points. The NASDAQ rose 27.049 points, a 0.10% increase, at 26,274.125 points, continuing to set new closing record highs.
3. Tesla rose 3.91%, NVIDIA increased 1.97%, Apple fell 0.13%, Microsoft declined 0.59%, Amazon dropped 1.35%, Meta fell 1.77%, Google A decreased 3.03%.
4. The NASDAQ Golden Dragon China Index rose 1.03%, at 7,067.16 points. Among popular Chinese concept stocks, Zai Lab rose 5.1%, Li Auto increased 4.6%. XPeng, Baidu, and NIO rose at most 3.8%, Alibaba fell 2.2%.
5. With impressive first-quarter earnings, Circle rose 15.78%.
