Türkiye’s BIST 100 Index Down at Friday Open

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s benchmark BIST 100 index edged marginally lower at Friday’s open, slipping 7.07 points — or 0.05% — to 15,033.18, pulling back from a historic peak reached just a session earlier.

Thursday’s rally had pushed the index to an all-time closing high of 15,040.25 points, a gain of 0.82%, as daily trading activity surged to 227.7 billion liras — equivalent to approximately $5.03 billion — underscoring robust investor appetite in Borsa Istanbul.

By 10:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT), the Turkish lira was changing hands at 45.3650 against the US dollar, 53.3315 versus the euro, and 61.6725 per British pound.

On the commodities front, spot gold held firm at $4,725.85 per troy ounce, while global oil markets saw Brent crude futures steady at $100.49 per barrel.
