Gold Finance reports that on May 12, local time in the early hours of the 12th, Iran’s parliamentary speaker Kalibaf posted a message on a social media platform, saying that besides accepting Iran’s “14-point proposal” as set out in the rights of the Iranian people, there is no alternative. He said that any other approach would be futile and only lead to failure again and again. He also noted that the longer it is dragged out, the more the cost will be paid by U.S. taxpayers. On May 2, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency disclosed the latest negotiation proposal that Iran had previously handed over to the United States via Pakistan, totaling 14 points and focusing on “ending the war.” The main contents include ensuring that no further military aggression occurs, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from areas around Iran, lifting the maritime blockade, unfreezing Iran’s frozen assets, paying compensation, canceling sanctions, achieving peace on all fronts (including Lebanon), and establishing a new management mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, U.S. President Trump said he would soon assess the newly proposed negotiation plan from Iran, but that he “cannot imagine” the plan “being acceptable.” (CCTV)
