Just caught wind of something pretty significant in the Apple ecosystem. John Ternus is officially stepping into the CEO role come September 1st, 2026, and from what's being reported, he's not wasting any time making moves.
The foldable iPhone reveal is apparently happening within weeks of him taking over. We're talking a device priced north of $2,000 with a focus on durability and performance - and here's the interesting part: they're going horizontal with that screen, basically iPad-like proportions. That's a pretty bold move for Apple's first foldable entry.
But the iPhone launch is really just the beginning of what Ternus has lined up. There's a whole pipeline of new product categories in the works, roughly 10 different areas being developed. We're looking at smart speakers with built-in displays, home robots for the desktop, security equipment, camera-equipped smart glasses, AI-enhanced AirPods, wearable pendants, touchscreen Macs, and a premium foldable iPad variant. The AR glasses are further out - somewhere between 2028 and 2030.
What's interesting is Ternus has been pretty vocal internally about doubling down on Apple's AI capabilities and service offerings. Apple Pay and similar services remain central to their strategy, which tells you where they see long-term value.
September's going to be a major moment for Apple. The foldable iPhone alone will shape conversations for months, but it's clear Ternus is thinking way bigger than just one product category. This feels like a full ecosystem reset in progress.
