Recently, I discovered a pretty interesting phenomenon: GPT-4 has been released for a while now, but most people simply don't have official access and can only experience it by subscribing to ChatGPT Plus. I myself applied just a few minutes after OpenAI announced it, but still waited nearly half a month before approval, showing how slow the review process is.

That said, GPT-4's capabilities are indeed impressive. If GPT-3.5 still has competitors, GPT-4 is basically in a crushingly superior league. Just looking at text processing ability, the token length of gpt-4-32k is eight times that of gpt-3.5-turbo, which immediately widens the gap.

Interestingly, recently many foreign products have started integrating GPT-4, and most of them offer free trial credits. I tried a few myself and found that you can actually experience GPT-4 for free. Let’s talk about these options below.

First is Vercel Playground. This platform originally allowed direct use of GPT-4, but due to recent traffic surges, they changed the rules. Now you need to apply to become a Pro user to get a 14-day free trial. Canceling before the trial ends prevents charges, which is quite considerate.

Next is Poe, owned by Quora. This product has multiple large language models built-in, including GPT-4 and Claude. The paid version costs $19.99 per month for 300 GPT-4 messages, but free users are limited to just 1 message per day, which is quite stingy.

Finally, there’s ForeFront, which has been quite popular recently. It supports preset role conversations, online image generation, sharing chat content, and login via Google authorization. I tried it; the speed is a bit slower than the official site, but it can indeed use GPT-4 for free. Most importantly, its quota is relatively generous—sending 5 messages every 3 hours, which is quite accommodating compared to other platforms.

Honestly, these free quotas will eventually be tightened. Since GPT-4’s token cost is 50-60 times higher than 3.5, platforms probably can't sustain this for long. But from another perspective, AI products are competing for market share, and in the short term, they will likely keep spending to attract users. So if you're interested, it’s worth taking advantage of this wave of free trials while it lasts.
