On May 12, a surge in momentum propelled the S&P 500 index back to historical highs, and Wall Street veteran Ed Yardeni is optimistic that the benchmark index could exceed 8000 points by the end of 2026. Yardeni raised his year-end target for the S&P 500 from 7700 to 8250 points, believing there is nearly a 12% upside from Friday’s closing price. Strong earnings in the first quarter prompted the chief investment strategist of Yardeni Research to revise his forecast upward.
