On May 9, Trump made a series of statements over the past 24 hours on various topics including the Middle East, tariffs, AI, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and extraterrestrial life. Regarding the Middle East situation, Trump stated that if there is ‘no progress’ in the current situation, the U.S. may restart the ‘Freedom Plan,’ which he described as an ‘upgraded version.’ He also mentioned that he expects to receive an official response from Iran regarding the U.S. proposal. However, upon returning to the White House, Trump did not comment on whether he had received a response from Iran. In terms of technology and markets, during a speech in the White House Rose Garden, Trump praised Dell computers as ‘great’ and directly suggested that the audience purchase them. As a result, Dell’s stock price surged nearly 14% during trading on Friday, reaching an all-time high. On trade policy, the U.S. Department of Justice has appealed the recent ruling against Trump’s tariff policy. Previously, the U.S. Federal Trade Court ruled that the 10% global tariffs implemented by the Trump administration were ‘illegal.’ Regarding economic data, Trump boasted about U.S. employment figures, claiming that 115,000 jobs were added in April, and sarcastically noted that ‘over 90% of Bloomberg economists underestimated the strong momentum of the Trump economy.’ On the Russia-Ukraine issue, Trump stated that both sides have agreed to a three-day ceasefire from May 9 to 11, which includes a pause in military actions and the exchange of 1,000 prisoners of war. Concerning military deployments, Trump indicated that he is considering relocating some U.S. troops stationed in Germany to Poland, adding that ‘Poland will like this.’ Regarding AI regulation, sources revealed that the Trump administration is preparing to introduce a new executive order on AI safety, requiring U.S. government agencies to collaborate with AI companies to address AI-driven cyberattacks, but it will not mandate government approval for advanced models. Additionally, Trump announced that the U.S. government has released the first batch of UFO/UAP (Unidentified Flying Objects/Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) files and stated that he has ordered relevant departments to disclose government information related to ‘extraterrestrial life’ to achieve ‘full transparency.’
