Georgia Lender Closed in 2026's Second Bank Failure, FDIC Sees $97M Cost

Georgia regulators closed Community Bank and Trust – West Georgia, and the FDIC said the failure may cost the Deposit Insurance Fund about $97 million. Anchor Bank agreed to assume all insured deposits and acquire certain assets. The three branches are scheduled to reopen as Anchor Bank branches on Monday, May 4, 2026.
