Germany and Ukraine will jointly produce drones with a range of up to 1,500 kilometers.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, visiting Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, said that Germany and Ukraine will jointly produce long-range drones with a range of 1,500 kilometers.

Zelensky strongly advocates drone diplomacy

On Monday, Pistorius said at a joint press conference in Kyiv that Germany plans to set up a joint venture with Ukraine to jointly develop and produce various types of drones whose range will cover from less than 100 kilometers to 1,500 kilometers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Pistorius in Kyiv that day, and the two sides held consultations and reached consensus on issues including joint weapons production and drone cooperation. Zelensky said that Germany’s cumulative military aid to Ukraine has reached €28.6 billion, and that the two countries are currently advancing six joint weapons production projects. During the meeting, both sides agreed on a 10-year drone cooperation agreement.

Zelensky also said that nearly 20 countries are interested in signing drone agreements with Ukraine, and that four agreements have already been completed, including with Norway and the Netherlands.

Zelensky also highly commended the assistance and support Germany has provided in Ukraine’s energy sector, and Pistorius had visited an energy facility in Ukraine in person before the meeting.
