Pentagon taps HII to launch and retrieve underwater drones by sub
HII (NYSE: HII) has secured a Defense Innovation Unit contract to develop a Torpedo Tube Launch and Recovery (TTLR) system for autonomously deploying and recovering REMUS unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) from submarines. This contract builds on HII’s extensive experience, including over 750 REMUS UUVs delivered globally and successful manned-unmanned teaming demonstrations with Virginia-class submarines. The new system aims to enhance the U.S. Navy’s undersea warfare capabilities by extending mission reach and reducing operational risks through automated UUV integration.
