Anthropic signs $1.8 billion cloud agreement, valuation may surpass OpenAI

CryptoWorld News reports that, according to Bloomberg, Anthropic has signed an $1.8 billion cloud infrastructure contract with Akamai, which is expected to boost its valuation beyond OpenAI’s $852 billion. The seven-year contract, Akamai CEO Frank Thomson Leighton stated, is the company’s largest client deal in history. This agreement will expand the computing power for Anthropic’s Claude model, enhancing its competitiveness with OpenAI. Akamai disclosed the deal in its Q1 2026 financial report, although the client’s name was not revealed. The company has also reached computing capacity agreements with Amazon Web Services, Google, CoreWeave, and SpaceX. Akamai’s stock price rose 27% after the announcement of the contract.
