Just came across something pretty wild from a couple years back that's worth revisiting. Six former Sevilla football players got caught up in what turned out to be a massive crypto fraud - and Lucas Ocampos was right in the middle of it with the rest of the squad.

So here's what went down: these guys were promoting this project called Shirtum that claimed to be some kind of digital football collectible platform. Sounds legit on the surface, right? They were selling what they called 'cinematic NFTs' - basically photos and audio clips of players - for around €450 each. The problem? None of these NFTs actually existed on any blockchain. They couldn't be transferred, couldn't be resold. Just straight-up fake.

Lucas Ocampos and his teammates - including Papu Gómez, Ivan Rakitić, Nico Pareja, Alberto Moreno, and Javier Saviola - apparently helped push this thing to investors. And investors got absolutely wrecked. We're talking over €24 million in losses. Thirteen Spanish investors filed a lawsuit in Barcelona's court after losing everything.

But wait, it gets worse. The promoters convinced people to send them around €3 million in BNB to supposedly develop iOS and Android apps for the platform. Those apps? Never happened. The money? Still missing with no explanation.

A Barcelona court ended up investigating the whole thing and charging the players involved. It's honestly one of those cases that reminds you why you gotta be careful with anything promising quick returns or exclusive collectibles. Lucas Ocampos and the others learned that lesson the hard way, and so did thousands of investors who thought they were getting in on something special.
