Recently, I've been looking into the NFT gaming sector and found that the pandemic over the past few years has indeed changed many people's perceptions of gaming. From pure entertainment to earning while playing, this shift has happened much faster than expected.
Speaking of representative NFT games, Axie Infinity is truly unavoidable. This game is especially popular in the Philippines, with some people earning a significant income just by playing it. The basic logic is to buy 3 Axies (digital pets), then battle or adventure with others. If you win, you earn SLP tokens, which can be exchanged for real money or used to breed new pets. In 2021, this game went viral on social media, with total transaction volume reaching hundreds of millions of dollars.
Besides Axie, there are many other interesting NFT game options. For example, Splinterlands is a card battle game; if you've played Yu-Gi-Oh! or Hearthstone, you'll find it easy to pick up. Gods Unchained is also a card game but free to enter; you can earn tradable cards by winning PVP battles. Sandbox 3D takes an open-world building approach, somewhat like a combination of Minecraft and Roblox, where players can freely create virtual assets and sell them.
There are also many adventure-type NFT games. Samurai Doge lets you own a unique samurai character and earn tokens daily. Battle Racers is a racing game where you assemble your own cars and compete; winning allows you to trade NFT race cars. Neon District is a cyberpunk-style adventure game where teams complete missions or fight PVP to earn tokens. Gold Fever is a survival adventure game that involves mining in the jungle or participating in tribal wars.
There are also some more unique concepts. CryptoSnake is a blockchain version of Snake, where you feed the snake tokens to increase your yield. Guild of Guardians is a fantasy dungeon game focused on PVE cooperation; team up with friends to fight monsters and collect items for sale.
The common feature of these NFT games is that they all require initial investment, but once inside, you can earn tokens through in-game competition, missions, or trading, ultimately cashing out. The core idea is to combine entertainment with profit.
My feeling is that the NFT gaming direction is no longer a new concept, but truly fun and profitable projects are still few. When choosing, it's best to do more research—look at community activity, the background of the development team, whether the game mechanics are balanced, etc. This field will definitely see more innovative NFT games in the future, but the quality will vary. If you're interested, you can follow the token trends of related projects on Gate and learn more—being well-informed is the key.
