Senate Banking Committee Sets May 14 Markup for Clarity Act

The U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a markup hearing on the Clarity Act of 2025 at 10:30 AM on May 14. The bill had stalled over issues including stablecoin yields, but Senators Thom Tillis and Angela Alsobrooks recently reached a compromise. The latest proposal would ban interest payments on static stablecoin reserves while allowing rewards for actively used stablecoins. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand also proposed an ethics clause barring senior government officials from profiting while regulating the crypto industry.
