The U.S. FBI reportedly uncovered a cryptocurrency scam gang worth around 700 million dollars. It was a large-scale fraud organization operating in Southeast Asia, and two Chinese nationals are said to have led the operation. Starting in Myanmar and moving to Cambodia, they reportedly kept carrying out scams—truly an organized operation.

They allegedly tricked Americans with fake investment platforms, and even impersonated people as if they were JP Morgan employees or police officers. Recruiting people via Telegram with the lure of high-paying jobs, and then forcing them to take part in the scam—this is extremely malicious. If it’s on the order of 700 million dollars, how many people must have been victimized?

The FBI reportedly shut down Telegram channels and also took down more than 500 scam websites. At least 8,900 or more victims were notified, and losses of about 560 million dollars were reportedly avoided. I can’t help but worry that there may be other large-scale cryptocurrency scam organizations like this as well.
