Georgia Power files RFP for up to 6,000MW of new dispatchable energy resources

Georgia Power has filed an RFP for 2,000MW – 6,000MW of new dispatchable capacity resources, including thermal generation, energy storage, and battery storage-plus-renewables, to meet projected needs for 2032-2033. The utility is also seeking approval for an additional 385MW of supplemental solar resources through its CARES program. This proposal follows previous approvals for 9,900MW of new generation, reinforcing the state’s interest in advancing BESS projects and meeting stringent criteria for large-load customers.
