just read about this Centra Tech case and man, crypto fraud stories never get old. so sam sorbee, one of the co-founders, just got hit with 8 years in prison. apparently they were running some kind of card scheme in the crypto space and it all came crashing down.
what's wild is how these guys thought they could pull it off. sam sorbee and his team were basically selling fake promises to investors. the whole thing is a reminder of why you gotta be so careful with these projects, especially back in the day when there was barely any regulation.
8 years though - that's serious time. makes you think about how far some people will go just to make a quick buck in crypto. this is exactly the kind of case that gets brought up whenever people talk about why crypto needs better oversight.
anyway, sam sorbee's story is just another one in a long list of crypto exit scams and fraud cases. kinda depressing but also important to remember when evaluating new projects. what do you guys think - has stuff like this made you more cautious with where you put your money?
